The 124th U.S. Open Golf Championship will be held on Pinehurst No. 2, June 13th through 16th. In May, the USGA opened Golf House Pinehurst, home to the new USGA Experience and the World Golf Hall of Fame.In celebration of the U.S. Open, we present the first in an occasional series of special episodes of The @Work Podcast we are calling “Office Hours.” These episodes will feature people who have interesting and unique jobs.Our first guest in this series has one of the coolest jobs in all of golf.
Hilary Cronheim is the Senior Director of the USGA Golf Museum and Library, located in Liberty Corner, New Jersey. She oversees the execution of the museum’s strategic initiatives; including strengthening its premier collection, expanding public programming, leveraging digital media, enhancing access to research collections, and reinforcing its role as the world’s leading golf center for scholarship.Cronheim joined the USGA in March of 2015 as Special Collections Librarian, and most recently served as senior librarian overseeing the world’s largest and most comprehensive golf library. Through her work in the library, she developed strong relationship with researchers and scholars worldwide, and played a critical role in supporting some of the USGA’s most important initiatives; including rules modernization, distance insights and USGA Championships.Prior to her time at the USGA, Cronheim gained invaluable experience in some of the nation’s leading museums, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Frick Collection in New York City. Cronheim has a master’s degree in art, art history and visual studies from Duke University, and a bachelor’s in art history from Cornell.
